I have a couple of friends who have actually tried to pull out my gray hairs when I'm not looking. I think they're barely noticeable but maybe I'm going partially blind in my gray old age. It's funny that I used to dye my hair and now I'd rather just leave it alone. Next up, tevas with socks. What do you think about gray hair? I think if I had insane gray roots I might be more inclined to dye but for now I just have strands of gray here and there so I'm not too concerned.
In other news, have you seen the Vogue September issue yet? I haven't bought it in years but I was at the airport with a 2 hour delay last week and decided to LIVE A LITTLE. It wasn't the wisest of plans to buy a 20 lb magazine to carry on to the plane but now I can use it as a paperweight. There are a lot of nice, overpriced things in there but I've put myself on a self imposed semi-shopping ban which I estimate will last about another week.
Can we talk about cropped pants? They aren't the best look for tall people and I am a tall person. I bought one pair of navy cropped pants (the minnie from J.Crew) last summer. I bought them because I needed something to wear on casual Friday at my last job because my coworkers were on my case about wearing skirts on Fridays.
Anyway, I want some actual pants. Everything out there is cropped! Pants are so frustrating. I'm going to say it, can someone please make a respectable trouser? Preferably in kelly green, please. And no chinos! I hate that word.
Last weekend I tried on some purple denim cropped pants. They were cute but I decided that I didn't need them and the sales lady was being too pushy. Also, they were Ivanka Trump brand, which gave me second thoughts about buying them. Is Ivanka Trump going to be the next Jessica Simpson? For a long time I wouldn't even look at a J.Simp shoe. Last year I bought a pair from na-na-na-na-na-na-na-naaa TJ Maxx and they are cute, quality leather.
Another small whine: The Macy's in SF is a million times better than the one in Sacramento. They have a way bigger selection and almost everything was 30-50% off.
Moving on....
A handful of us did Zumba last night and we survived! It was pretty fun but seemed just like an aerobics class. We sweated like pigs. I'd do it again.
Holy moly! Mayer Hawthorne was sososososo good. Thanks to my pals who met with me at Shady Lady for a few hours before the show while I waited for my hot date to get off work. I didn't take any photos of our friend times. I was TOO EXCITED. I did get one photo at the show, which is terrible. I wasn't sure if I would get away with bringing my good camera in but security is pretty lax there. They didn't even look through my bag. Unlike certainplaces.
Ace of Spades is a good venue. The sound was great! I was surprised because every time I've been in the R/15 area it always seems to be insane metal bands that you can hear all the way down the street. Apparently there are also fights there when certain bands play. Obviously that didn't happen last night.
Sacramento crowd. We are in there somewhere!
I went looking for professional clothes yesterday afternoon and I'm sorry to announce that I will not be wearing a matching suit EVER. They are totally unflattering on women! The suit I tried on at Banana Republic was lightweight wool. For a jacket and skirt the cost was just under $300. I felt like I looked 15 years older in this thing!

I did find some pants, two tops, and a leather tote at BR. They were all on clearance with an additional 30% off so my bill came to just over $100. I hate pants usually, especially work pants. I was telling Matt that ladies work pants often make you look like you're wearing a very loose fitting diaper under the pants. I don't want to go nuts on buying new clothes since I'm not exactly sure how people will be dressed there. The nice lady who interviewed me told me "you don't look like someone who works in insurance claims".

Yesterday evening we went to Roseville so I could browse in Anthropologie. I wanted to look at some pretty things after being inside that dismal federal building for our interview. Anthro always has the best window displays.
I tried on these grey and white polka dotted pants. They were really cute but had so much stretch that they were more like leggings and may have made my legs look a little sausage-y.
They are also way too expensive for novelty pants (I learned that any pant that isn't a solid colour is a novelty pant according to the j.crew website.) They are $178. I would have bought them if they were less than $40.
I bought a blouse I'd tried on a couple of months ago that had been out of my price range at the time but had been marked down twice since my last visit. It would have looked really cute with the polka dot pants but then I wouldn't have been able to pay for groceries for the next 2 months.
It's so summery out and now I'm officially ready. I even got a tiny sunburn on my arm over the weekend from sitting on the patio at Bows. I picked out some sandals from DSW last night. Usually I never have any luck there but these are very close to what I was looking for. The tassels look cute in person. In this picture they're overwhelming the shoe. Just wait, you'll see. 80 degrees this weekend!

I like the details on the sleeves of this dress but could do without the weird flap in the back. Maybe it would be cuter if the model were wearing tights.

I wore something like that black dress in highschool, I saw someone wear that orange fur jacket at a rave once, and that frou frou turtleneck dress used to be a curtain. Gross.
In other fashion news, did you watch the Oscars? Jennifer's Lopez' dress looked like part of an outfit I used to have for my brunette Barbie (her name was Whitney). There weren't any outfits that were super amazing, were there? There can't have been because I don't remember them.
I've been wearing my hair down lately since that's how the the menfolk in this household like it. Llorca is always whining at me, "girl, let your hair down!". Such a pushy cat.
I read through the comments on the blog on how to do this style but I can't get it quite right. I have come up with some cool looking results. I think this would be pretty in the warmer weather to keep your hair off your face without having a standard ponytail.

I don't understand the floppy asymmetrical look. The bibbed blouse look, yes.
Gilt has good deals for fancy brands if you have a pile of money lying around but I don't like their restocking/return fee if you have to return something. I bought my wedding dress from them, in two sizes so I could see which was a better fit, and had to pay a 15$ shipping and restocking fee if I wanted my money back or I could get a gilt.com credit and not have to pay the restocking fee. That is a hefty fee for something that costs about 5$ to mail.
